Hazardous Materials Logistics

The hazardous materials warehouse, which was opened in 1984 and is approved in accordance with the Federal Immission Control Act, has a total storage area of 7,500 m2. The high-bay warehouse has 9,000 pallet spaces for Euro pallets.

The total storage quantity of 4,112 tonnes includes 960,000 litres of flammable liquids, 271 tonnes of toxic / very toxic hazardous substances and 860 tonnes of aerosol cans. Substances up to water hazard class 3 can be stored in the entire hazardous materials application.

We work according to the VCI storage class concept and are authorised to store hazardous substances in the following storage classes:

4.3 Hazardous substances which, in contact with water, emit flammable gases

6.1B Non-flammable, acutely toxic / very toxic hazardous substances (cat. 1 and 2)
6.1C Flammable, acutely toxic / toxic or chronically acting hazardous substances (cat. 3)
6.1D Non-flammable, acutely toxic / toxic or chronically acting hazardous substances (cat. 3)
8A Flammable corrosive hazardous substances
8B Non-flammable corrosive hazardous substances
10 Flammable liquids (other than hazard class 3)
11 Combustible solids
12 Non-flammable liquids
13 Non-flammable solids

 

The safety of the surroundings and the operating area is ensured by comprehensive organisational measures and safety equipment.

Specialised personnel are crucial, especially when handling and storing hazardous materials. Our staff is regularly trained and is therefore familiar with the regulations governing the transport of dangerous goods:

  • ADR (European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road)
  • IMDG-Code (International Maritime Code for Dangerous Goods)
  • IATA-DGR (Dangerous Goods Regulations der International Air Transport Association)
