Bavarian State Prize: Andreas Schmid Group named finalist
Gersthofen, 7 February 2025. The Bavarian State Ministry of Housing, Construction and Transport has awarded the Bavarian State Prize for Transport and Logistics for the first time in recognition of outstanding achievements in the logistics industry. The award was presented on 6 February 2025 by Minister of State Christian Bernreiter. The award honours companies and projects that contribute to the further development of the industry through their innovative strength, exemplary role and special commitment.
The Andreas Schmid Group, headquartered in Gersthofen near Augsburg, is also among the finalists. The family-owned company received special recognition for its measures in the area of ‘focus on employees’.
Tradition meets transformation
The Andreas Schmid Group has been combining tradition and innovation in logistics for almost 100 years. Founded in 1928, the company is now in its third generation of management. Under the leadership of CEO Alessandro Cacciola, the group has undergone a comprehensive transformation process in recent years. The strategy includes consistent internationalisation, the use of modern technologies such as robotic process automation and a new brand identity that reflects the contemporary self-image of the logistics industry.
Focus on employees
A particular focus is placed on long-term employee retention and development. The company is committed to the targeted training of young talent, the further education of experienced specialists and the interaction between different generations. Programmes such as training in accordance with the Qualification Opportunities Act and extensive internal development opportunities help to actively counteract the shortage of skilled workers. The long-standing service of many employees underlines the success of these measures.
The Andreas Schmid Group’s commitment to employee-oriented and sustainable logistics has been recognised with its nomination as a finalist for the Bavarian State Prize for Transport and Logistics.
