“Tag der Logistik” 2022

The future of logistics is being shaped in Augsburg

“Tag der Logistik” 2022

Augsburg-Haunstetten, April 21, 2022. For the 15th time, the Day of Logistics took place on April 21, 2022. At the annual event of the Federal Association of Logistics, the logistics sector demonstrated how versatile and innovative it is. Of course, the Andreas Schmid Group was also present and opened its doors to all interested parties. Under the motto “Taking off with AS Drone Services’ drones,” the specialist audience was able to gain interesting insights into the drone business field and get to know the Andreas Schmid Lab.

Dr. Matthias Schindler, Digital Board Member of the Andreas Schmid Group, welcomed visitors to the Andreas Schmid Lab with a presentation of the Andreas Schmid Group. In the modern working space with a moss wall and creative work areas, guests can immerse themselves directly into the working atmosphere of an innovation lab.

Widespread use of delivery drones still a thing of the future
Carina Sachs, Managing Director of AS Drone Services, then introduced the topic of the day, ‘drones.’ She explained the various services of the young start-up in the field of inspections and security and discussed the opportunities and limitations of innovative technology. Andreas Kolb, Innovation Manager of the Andreas Schmid Lab, specified the research and development project for industrial delivery drones. The conclusion: while the technology is mature, regulations still significantly limit the use of drones. Nevertheless, the Andreas Schmid Group demonstrates that delivery drones are feasible with their test track on their property.

Logistics Day in the sign of the drone
When it comes to logistics, the drone may not necessarily come to mind. So why did the Andreas Schmid Group focus on this particular topic on Logistics Day? The annual event organizer, Frank Gläser, explains, “Within the industry, we are well-informed about innovative processes and products. It is difficult to surprise anyone in the traditional logistics environment with something new. With our Andreas Schmid Lab, we look beyond the traditional logistics realm – and can create impulses that are interesting and new for industry professionals as well.”

Andreas Schmid Group shapes the future of logistics
For the Andreas Schmid Group, which has existed since 1928, the Andreas Schmid Lab is a significant catalyst to preserve their innovative power. Professor Dr. Michael Krupp, Professor of Logistics and Supply Chain Management at Augsburg University, who was on-site at Logistics Day with some of his students, also says, “The AS Lab is always worth a visit, a place in Augsburg where innovations get feet and learn to walk. Whether it’s drones or IT solutions – just do it, try it out, and look for productive niches – that’s what the AS Lab stands for as an innovation engine of logistics in the region.”

The Andreas Schmid Group, the Andreas Schmid Lab, and AS Drone Services would like to thank all visitors for coming and their interest and look forward to seeing them again soon.
